Description

Debussy wrote this, his only string quartet in 1893.
Influenced by the music of Franck, but with hints of Borodin as well as Javanese gamelan music, this work freed chamber music from “rigid structure, frozen rhetoric and rigid aesthetics” (Pierre Boulez).

The quartet is in 4 movements:

  1. Animé et très décidé
  2. Assez vif et bien rythmé
  3. Andantino, doucement expressif
  4. Très modéré – En animant peu à peu – Très mouvementé et avec passion

The E-Edition PDF bundle comes with the following parts:

Soprano Saxophone
Alto Saxophone
Tenor Saxophone
Baritone Saxophone

“Quartet in G minor” is also available in hard-copy from June Emerson Wind Music.
