From the composer: This piece is the title track of the solo album, “Overflow”, released in 2022. To create this work I took fragments of melodies into the studio and improvised around them taking inspiration from a photograph of a reservoir overflow taken by my dad. A performer has the artistic license to take the improvisation in new directions which will allow for adjustment to the altissimo sections that may be out of reach to the less experienced player. If this decision is made and the altissimo does not feature in the piece, the shape and intensity of these sections must remain.
The E-Edition PDF bundle comes with a saxophone part for use with any saxophone, and two MP3 electronic drones. The concert Db drone should be used with Bb instruments, and the concert Gb drone for Eb instruments.
