A few words from the composer:

“Sonatina for clarinet and piano was composed in 2020 – 2021 with the idea of creating a sense of chamber music and interplay between the clarinet and piano as having equal importance.

This clarinet Sonatina was written at a creatively inspired and productive time when I was also writing for violin and piano, viola and piano, flute and piano as well as works for solo violin, solo flute, solo guitar.

Sonatina for clarinet and piano is divided into three movements.
• 1st Animate
It has a lively, cheerful and fresh character.
 
• 2nd Andante
  Emotional music with dialogues between clarinet and piano in a friendly atmosphere and at times romantic.

• 3rd Presto.
Rhythmic, powerful, strong, but also with delicate and playful moments. Atmosphere a bit exotic at times

It is an attractive and accessible work with lyrical phrases influenced by the beautiful musical traditions of Spain. Sonatina is ideal for students who finish middle grade and start higher grade. Inspired by the clarinet’s singing tones and wonderful colours, my Sonatina would also fit beautifully in a concert programme for audiences to enjoy.”
