Description
Rhapsody on Electric Dawn was created by composer and conductor Duncan Stubbs using material from Alastair Penman’s own compositions on the album Electric Dawn. In Rhapsody on Electric Dawn the original electronic soundscapes featuring multitracked saxophones, clarinets and synthesisers have been masterfully reworked to make full use of the rich palette of colours that can be produced by the wind orchestra formation. The Rhapsody starts with a distant and mysterious opening (taken from the piece Sandbox), which leads us into material from Wayfarer with overlapping rhythmic motifs and rich textures. The final section is joyful and dance-like, using material from Broadside.
