About the Composer

Born in London, Stephen Roberts studied horn and piano at the Royal College of Music and gained a PHD in composition at the University of Birmingham. He was a founder member of the Fine Arts Brass Ensemble and associate conductor of the English Symphony Orchestra.

Over a period of five decades, he has given concerts and masterclasses in over eighty countries and his compositions and arrangements are performed world-wide. They include commissions from a wide variety of artists, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Kosei Wind Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Toronto Symphony, South German Radio Orchestra, Band of the Grenadier Guards, Back Dyke Band, Bochmann String Quartet and many others.

Since 2002 he has been professor of Orchestration at the Royal Military School of Music and he directs the Birmingham Symphonic Brass.
