About the Composer

Colin Eng is an up-and-coming saxophonist, composer, and educator from Ellicott City, MD. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a double major in Saxophone Performance and Music Education.

Known for his unique style, Colin’s compositions are increasingly in demand both locally and beyond. In 2024, he was awarded first prize in both the Phoenix Percussion Composition Competition and the Manchester Saxophone Orchestra Composition Competition. His work has been commissioned by numerous Maryland-based musicians, earning him a strong reputation for crafting high-quality, compelling music.

Outside of composition, Colin is an active performer and educator. He has played with a wide range of local ensembles as well as the top jazz and classical groups at the University of Maryland. While at the University of Maryland, Colin had the privilege of performing with distinguished guest artists including Jazzmeia Horn, George Cables, Orrin Evans, Keyon Harrold, John Clayton, and Charlie Young. As a guest clinician and private teacher, he is regularly sought after for his expertise, enthusiasm, and connection to the community.
