Description

From the composer:

The Antrios is based on a number of themes from my music for the first English-language production of Yasmina Reza’s play Art. Antrios is the name of the artist of a painting that causes a dramatic rift between three friends.

    Nous avons eu le grand plaisir de jouer “The Antrios” lors dā€™une tournĆ©e de 3 concerts en Avril 2022 dans le sud de la France, avec le Quatuor AmayĆØres ;
    Cā€™Ć©tait une expĆ©rience trĆØs rĆ©jouissante car nous avions un programme de musique volubile qui marchait parfaitement avec le rĆ©veil des sens au printemps ;
    Le fait dā€™imaginer la musique de scĆØne de Ā« Art Ā» -dont nous lisions une courte citation en introduction- Ć©tait trĆØs grisant (nous avions en tĆŖte l’inoubliable version franƧaise avec Fabrice Lucchini, Pierre Vanech et Pierre Arditi) ; mĆŖme si The Antrios en quatuor est une piĆØce de musique en tant que telle, se suffisant Ć  elle-mĆŖme, sans les attributs du thĆ©Ć¢tre.
    Nous recommandons cette piĆØce aux quatuors de clarinettes audacieux et matures (au vu de la relative difficultĆ© de lā€™oeuvre), dont les musicien.ne.s gardent pourtant trĆØs vive leur part dā€™enfance.
    Le Quatuor AmayĆØres est un ensemble parmi les mille idĆ©es de “la petite AGAC” (Association Gardoise des Ami.e.s de la Clarinette) qui oeuvre dans le sud de la France (autour de la ville de NĆ®mes) pour garder vivante la musique partagĆ©e autour de la clarinette, des clarinettistes, ici et maintenant.
    La rencontre musicale avec le compositeur sā€™est rĆ©vĆ©lĆ©e spontanĆ©e, vraie, confiante au premier instant, cā€™est une belle histoire !

    We had the great pleasure of playing “The Antrios” during a 3 concert tour in April 2022 in the south of France, with the AmayĆØres Quartet ;
    It was a very enjoyable experience because we had a program of voluble music which worked perfectly with the awakening of the senses in spring;
    Imagining the incidental music of ā€œArtā€ ā€“ of which we read a short quote in the introduction ā€“ was very exhilarating (we had in mind the French version with Fabrice Lucchini, Pierre Vanech and Pierre Arditi); even if The Antrios in quartet was a real piece of music in its own right, sufficient in itself, without the trappings of theater.
    We recommend this piece to daring and mature clarinet quartets (given the relative difficulty of the work), whose musicians nevertheless keep their childhood part very vivid.
    The AmayĆØres Quartet is an ensemble among the thousand ideas of “la petite AGAC” (Association Gardoise des Ami.e.s de la Clarinette) which works in the south of France (around the city of NĆ®mes) to keep alive the music shared around clarinet, clarinetists, here and now.
    The musical encounter with the composer turned out to be spontaneous, true, confident from the first moment, itā€™s a beautiful story!
