Starters for Sax is a collection of 25 fun pieces in a variety of styles which take the beginner saxophonist from their first note up to approximately Grade 2 standard. The pieces introduce the notes on the saxophone in a methodical order whilst also introducing dynamics, articulation, phrasing and other common techniques on the instrument. A complete fingering chart for the instrument is provided with the book, and at the start of the book there is an introduction to reading music and making your first sounds on the instrument.
The E-Edition PDF bundle includes the saxophone part and separate piano accompaniments for Eb and Bb saxophones.
Play-along backing tracks and demo recordings, are available as a free download on this product page. A QR code linking to these free downloads is included on page 5 of the saxophone part.
The author, Alastair Penman, has over 15 years teaching experience at primary, secondary and tertiary level and his compositions appear on the ABRSM and Trinity Saxophone Exam Syllabuses. Alastair is Professor of Saxophone at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, saxophone teacher at Junior Guildhall, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
