Starters for Flute is a collection of 25 fun pieces in a variety of styles which take the beginner flautist from their first note up to approximately Grade 2 standard. The pieces introduce the notes on the flute in a methodical order whilst also introducing dynamics, articulation, phrasing and other common techniques on the instrument. A complete fingering chart for the instrument is provided with the book, and at the start of the book there is an introduction to reading music and making your first sounds on the instrument.

The E-Edition PDF bundle includes the flute part and piano accompaniment.

The author, Alastair Penman, has over 15 years teaching experience at primary, secondary and tertiary level and his compositions appear on the ABRSM and Trinity Exam Syllabuses. Alastair is Professor of Saxophone at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, saxophone teacher at Junior Guildhall, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
