Description
This elegant and concise sonata was written to celebrate a silver wedding anniversary. It has three contrasting movements:
I. Improvisation – a lyrical and slightly enigmatic introduction to the work.
II. Romanza – a fuller and more spacious movement exploiting the sax’s mid-range. The optional flute is the instrument of the female half of the ‘silver’ couple.
III. Rondo – a bright presto in 6/8, puntuated by more assertive 3/4 bars. Short passages move (optionally) into the altissimo range.
The E-Edition PDF bundle includes the oboe part, a piano accompaniment and an optional flute part.
