Description
A few words from the composer:
“These four pieces were written in 1999 as my response to the beautiful green forests and pristine coastline of the state of Oregon, which I visited for the first time that year.
There is a good deal of close, and I hope, exciting interplay between the clarinet and alto saxophone, underpinned by harmonies and textures in the piano which are often jazzy and stringent at the same time.
The titles are 1.Vernal, 2.Insistent, 3.Gallic and 4.Exuberant.
No 3 is my “take” on Erik Satie of the “Gymnopedies”.
They have been recorded by Andrew Sparling, Tim Holmes and myself on an NMC release ‘Songs, Chimes and Dances’ NMC D179.”
“Oregon Moods” is also available in printed edition from June Emerson Wind Music.
