Off By One

Off By One was a finalist in the 2025 Sax Orchestra Manchester composition competition.

Off by One is an energetic piece of music, perfect as a concert opener or closer!
The first section is frenetic and furious, giving each part a chance to shine as the different themes emerge, evolving into a high-energy call-and-response section. The middle section allows players to catch their breath with a slow, emotive chorale with the baritone taking the lead, before the entire ensemble joins and returns to the main theme and, finally, the exciting resolution of the finale!
