Description

This setting of the ancient Nativity poem was first published in Venice in 1587. Written for antiphonal double choir, Gabrieli was a master in exploiting the acoustic possibilities of St Mark’s Cathedral. Where possible, the ensemble should be grouped as the two choirs, and spaced appropriately.
