Major Madness

Major Madness is a set of three pieces for saxophone sextet with flexible parts, ideal for school, music service and community ensembles.

The first movement, Gearing Up, explores tight ensemble playing with staccato motifs set against more lyrical phrases, and a propulsive baritone part throughout. There is also a solo section in the middle with optional improvisation (or written out alternatives.)

The second movement, Sunbeams, is an opportunity to focus on ensemble sound, blend and intonation, with lush harmonies and a lyrical solo line.

The final movement, Hit the Town, is fun and high energy with a driving rhythm throughout. As with Gearing Up it has an optional improvisation section.
