Description
A few words from the composer:
“In 1987 I started my collaboration with bass clarinet player Hein Pijnenburg. To get to know his instrument intimately I composed Incantatio II. This work plays out two different contrasts: the dark low register against the tender light register and the stark rhythmic quintuple against a slow quint motive (notice the allencompassing idea of the number five here). These opposites are developed in a rather classical way into a concise composition. The first performance of Incantatio II was given by Hein in 1987 at “The IJsbreker”, Amsterdam.”
“Incantatio II” is for solo bass clarinet.
“Incantatio II” is also available in printed edition from June Emerson Wind Music.
