A few words from the composer:

“Although 4U composition was written for some friends, the musical content of this piece is not so cheerful! It represents a quest for retrieving lost moments from the past. For this reason it also will be used as an intermezzo in “Two Portraits” for clarinet, soprano voice and piano. As a separate piece entitled “4U” it can be performed in the combination of clarinet/piano or saxophone/organ.”

As a composer Xander Hunfeld embraces the philosopher Karl Popper’s distinction between objective and subjective music. He exerts his musical gifts and emotions to musical matters in a constant give-and-take between himself and his works. In other words, he always uses himself as a test subject.
