Description
This funky composition is the result of the composer’s long-term involvement with jazz and fusion instrumentalists. Its three parts do “speak” the same language but have very different characters. The music is very dense and intensive – at the end you really will need “TIME OUT”!
It is dedicated to Gerard McChrystal and was premiered by the young UK saxophone quartet, In toto, in 2002.
The E-Edition PDF bundle comes with the following parts:
Soprano Saxophone
Alto Saxophone
Tenor Saxophone
Baritone Saxophone
Contents
- Funky

“Time Out!” is also available in hard-copy from June Emerson Wind Music.
tom.saxtet –
‘Time Out’ is a funky new quartet in three parts by the man who bought you ‘Witch Hunt’. It’s an energetic and tightly written work. It will challenge many groups, such is the clarity of fingers and articulation needed to do it justice. The first part is rhythmic, fast and energetic. This leads to a flowing but not slow, second movement. Once again articulation and finger accuracy are needed to do the movement justice. Then comes a cool and rhythmically demanding last movement. As ever Uli’s writing is original, fun and very listenable.
