Description
Ideal as additional studies for developing your tone, phrasing and exploring the expressive qualities of the saxophone through Elgar’s beautifully simple melodic lines.
From the composer: I have always been of the opinion that the greatest skill a musician can possess is the ability to make simple, melodic lines come to life and sound amazing. In Nigel Kennedy’s recording of Elgar repertoire for violin and piano he demonstrates this skill to perfection, particularly in these melodious exercises written for violinists in the early stages of their learning. He shows himself to be a great virtuoso using extremely simple material.
Explore the saxophone’s ability to sing phrases here, trying to find colours, richness and expression. The breathing should be a natural part of the phrases.
