Description
George Gershwin’s Three Preludes are a well-known study in concert music in the new jazz style of the 1920s. Originally for piano, this arrangement shows off both the dexterity and the rich sonority possible within a saxophone quartet. Offering a more thorough transcription of Gershwin’s original voicings and lines than other lighter arrangements, Crockford’s close arrangement is a demanding and thrilling challenge for all players, with exciting results for both players and audiences.
