Lionel Ferer

Lionel Ferer

Lionel was baritone saxophonist with Saxtet between 1987 and 1992, when it was still a quartet. During this time Saxtet completed three 'sell-out' seasons at the Edinburgh Festival and toured extensively in Britain, Asia, New Zealand, USA and many countries in Europe.

Other performing experience includes orchestral work with Welsh National Opera (1984), regular work on West End shows including Crazy for You, Jolson, Oliver and a number of Royal National Theatre productions including A Little Night Music and Wind in the Willows. He has had seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon, Newcastle and at the Barbican in London. Between 1993 and 1994 he was saxophonist with the resident show band on the QE2 cruise ship.

Lionel was a member of the Les Miserables orchestra at the Palace Theatre, London between 1996 and 2001, when he decided to take a break from professional music to travel round South America. He settled in Colombia where he played with the Filarmonica Del Valle in Cali. He has been back in London since August 2005, playing on a number of West End Shows.
